Only a submission, but...
There I was, surfing the Interweb thingy during a slack moment when I suddenly found myself confronted by a reference to one J McGee under the heading:
The Edgar® Awards – 2016 Submissions | Mystery Writers ...This list includes all submissions received by the MWA national office as of September 17, 2015.
Interesting, I thought, but why and how..? Or, not to put it too bluntly: WTF?
Turns out, that way - and I do mean way, way, way - down the list of submissions for the 2016 MWA Edgar Best Novel Award is The Blooding.
Now, before anyone gets too excited - that'd be me, mainly - this only means that the book has been submitted for consideration. Only the judges on each Edgar® committee determine who is nominated and who wins. Nominations are to be announced on or around Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday (January 19th) in 2016.
But even so...talk about knocking someone over with a feather. Blimey..!!
Frankly, the chances of even being nominated are probably around the same as winning the Euro Lottery, El Gordo and the US Mega Millions draw on the same day, but just to be listed on the MWA website is a thrill.
But what's most interesting is that no-one bothered to tell me; I had to discover it for myself. Maybe the person responsible thinks I'm telepathic.
I'm not, of course, but I can clear tall buildings in a single bound...at least I think I can after three or four pints. Now, where the heck did I put my cape and pants..?
