Blimey, that was quick...!

No sooner had I ended my rant about The Donald's decision to upend the ban on importing elephant trophies into the US when news came over the wire that he'd decided to put things on hold.

Though, I doubt it was my pitiful contribution to the argument that swayed him. More likely it was the international uproar from the animal rights lobby and from all decent-thinking people around the globe that persuaded him he'd made a very, very bad decision.

Or, as he put it in his tweet:

'Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts. Under study for years. Will update soon with Secretary Zinke. Thank you!'

'Until such time as I review all conservation facts'? You, mean you hadn't considered all the facts before you came up with your ludicrous pronouncement?

Well, understandable, since 'conservation' has more than two syllables and it was probably a bit beyond you.

Still, let's give the man his due. He has clearly bowed to public pressure and we must welcome that, even though you know he must have been seething when he was choosing all those characters.
