Well, not that close, but you know what I mean. Sadly, The Blooding didn't make it onto the final short list for the CWA Endeavour Historical Dagger Award. In all honesty, I can't say I'm that surprised as I wouldn't consider it to be anywhere close to being an historical crime novel, despite my American editor telling me that she thought it 'crime-y enough to pass', which takes the phrase 'wishful thinking' to an entirely new level. Bless her.
But hey, it was nice to have made the nominations, given the amount of competition out there. It meant that somebody thought the story had merit and it's another entry on the CV, which always helps.
